Quentin Pankhurst is Director of the Davy-Faraday Research Laboratory and Wolfson Professor of Natural Philosophy – a post once held by Lord Ernest Rutherford – at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, in London.
He runs research programmes in bio- and nanomagnetism aimed at making practical advances in the use of magnetic nanoparticles in healthcare. These include medical imaging devices, targeted regenerative medicine, molecular imaging microscopy for living cells, and the development of multifunctional nanoparticles for therapy and diagnostics.
He is a founder and CTO of Endomagnetics Ltd, a spin-out company which is currently running clinical trials of the SentiMag™, an intra-operative device for breast cancer surgery.
